Corfu is a beautiful island in the Ionian Sea on the west side of Greece. It was shaped by the clash of different civilizations that ruled the region for centuries, and this diversity makes the island extremely fascinating.

So, in a nutshell, the answer to where to stay in Corfu is pretty simple:
“It really depends on your situation and what you are looking for from your trip to Corfu but it also depends on how you are planning to spend your holidays: in an all inclusive hotel with everything around or looking to explore the island and see many areas. Also, all resort places in Corfu have one thing in common which is the fact that they are close to a stunning beach (either with pebbles or sand).“

VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW:
Which is the best area to stay in Corfu?
The best area to stay in Corfu is undoubtedly the island’s northern part, as it has most of the best resort towns and beaches. If you are looking for more quiet areas and villages, though, you should consider places such as Liapades and Mesongi and try to avoid Sidari and Kavos.Where should I stay in Corfu for the first time?
If you are visiting Corfu for the first time, you should stay at Corfu Town or anywhere around it, because you need to be close to this marvellous old town, as it has so much to explore. I do not recommend staying in Kavos (unless you are 18 and want to drink all day) or even in Sidari because you will be missing a lot from the island.
My advice, though, is to rent a car for a few days and drive around the island. If you are primarily interested in beaches, then Acharavi or Glyfada on the island’s west side would be ideal.

2. Best Place For Families

As the father of two beautiful (but cheeky) daughters, I know a thing or two about what makes a great family holiday. I can tell you that there is no better playground in the world than a beautiful sandy (or even pebbly) beach.
So if you are looking for a great family place to stay in Corfu, I highly recommend staying as close to a beach as possible. Great family resort towns in Corfu are:
Corfu is among the best Greek islands for families with its excellent infrastructure, amenities, restaurants, family-friendly hotels, and beautiful, long, and expansive beaches. There is also an International airport on the island that offers direct flights from (and to) almost all major European Cities. Here are some of the best family hotels in Corfu:

- Best FamilyHotel in Glyfada: Art Hotel Debono
- Best FamilyHotel in Acharavi: Grecotel LUXME
- Best FamilyHotel in Dassia: TRYP
- Best FamilyHotel in Liapades:Corfu Pearl
- Best Family Hotel in Agios Gordios: Sea Breeze
I also highly suggest you avoid resort towns such as Kavos and Sidari, as they become party towns at night (and during the day). I wouldn’t want to spend a family holiday with my kids next to drunk 19-year-olds (I’ve been there, done that, though).
3. Best Place for Couples in Corfu

Corfu is one of the best Greek islands for a couple’s holiday (of any age). Make no mistake, this place is both romantic and adventurous.
Secluded but also full of energy and with a million things to see and do. But when you are researching all the different areas to stay in Corfu the amount of information might be confusing for most people.
I truly believe that accommodation is the A and Z for a great couple’s holiday in Corfu. You don’t want to be close to nightclubs and crazy parties (though you can certainly visit some…) in Kavos or Sidari.
I believe Paleokastritsa is the best place for a couple’s holiday in Corfu. Still, I would also consider Corfu Old Town, as it’s a unique town that resembles Venice in many ways.In Paleokastritsa, you will be in a small green and turquoise paradise full of things to do and explore. You can even rent a boat and explore hidden beaches and coves nearby.
On the other hand, Corfu Old Town with its cute alleys and hidden restaurants and cafes can be a great spot to base your holidays, as you can explore the whole island from there.

4. Best Place for Nightlife

People say that Corfu can be a party island, but that is true only in Kavos, mainly, and Sidari (on a smaller scale). To be honest, when it comes to nightlife in Corfu It really depends on what kind of nightlife you are looking for.
In my view, the best nightlife on the island is actually in Corfu town, with great bars, wine bars, cocktail bars, and even nightclubs where even locals spend their nights.
On the other hand, in Kavos and Sidari, you will mostly find nightclubs that cater to 18-25-year-olds looking for a cheap drink to get wasted. There is nothing wrong with that (we have all been 19 at some point), but Kavos is only that, so you had better avoid it if you are not into that.
Corfu Town has some excellent nightlife options in my opinion, much more elegant and fun in many ways, with places such as Brofessor, Dell’Acque, Boite, and Pecorino.- Best Hotel in Corfu Town:Corfu Palace Hotel

5. Best Place for Beach

I honestly believe that Corfu has the best beaches of any Greek island (okay, maybe except for Crete). There is so much variety and diversity to them that it is truly unmatched on any other island.
The best beach towns in Corfu are:
There are just so many wonderful beaches on the island that it would be a shame you won’t visit at least some of them. The best way to do just that would be to rent a car for a few days, to explore the island in the most flexible way.6. Best Place Without A Car

You can definitely stay elsewhere, too, but you will be mostly limited to that area (which is also fine). If it is your first time in Corfu, though, you might be tempted to explore it a bit more.
Always remember that Corfu is a pretty big Greek island, and it takes time to travel from one town to another. The best area to stay if you are a couple and you want to enjoy the beautiful, paradise-like scenery is in or around Paleokastritsa. Still, if you want to explore the island, you could also stay close to or near Corfu town in areas such as Gouvies, Komeno, or even the old town.If you are visiting Corfu with your kids, the best thing you can do is stay closer to a beach and visit other areas if you want to. The kids will always enjoy the beach more than anything else.
The best areas to stay with the kids are Acharavi, Agios Gordios, and Glyfada ( a local’s favourite beach). Finally, always book your accommodation at least 6 months in advance, as most hotels sell out quickly yearly!
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the best place to stay in Corfu for the first time?
Corfu Town (Kerkyra) is the best place to stay for first-time visitors. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring stunning Venetian architecture, the best dining on the island, and serves as the central hub for the Green Bus network, making it easy to explore other beaches without renting a car.
Where is the best area to stay in Corfu for couples?
Paleokastritsa, located on the west coast, is the most romantic area for couples. It is famous for its dramatic, pine-covered cliffs, hidden coves, and crystal-clear water. If you prefer high-end, adults-only luxury resorts, the quiet eastern coast near Agios Ioannis Peristeron is also excellent.
Where should families stay in Corfu?
Sidari and Acharavi on the north coast are the best areas for families. These towns offer long, sandy beaches with shallow, calm water that is safe for young children. They also have a high concentration of family-friendly resorts, water parks, and casual tavernas.
Where is the best place to stay in Corfu for nightlife?
Kavos (in the far south) and Ipsos (on the east coast) are the main party hubs in Corfu. Kavos caters heavily to a younger, club-going crowd, while Ipsos offers a slightly more balanced mix of beach bars and late-night venues.
Do I need a car in Corfu?
Yes, renting a car is highly recommended. Corfu is a massive island—it takes over two hours to drive from north to south. While the Green Bus network connects Corfu Town to major resorts, relying on buses limits your ability to explore the island’s best hidden beaches and mountain villages.
