Yes! Almost everyone under 60 speaks at least basic English, especially in tourist areas. English is taught in schools from a young age. In hotels, restaurants, and transport hubs, you'll have no issues communicating. Even many taxi drivers and shopkeepers know enough English to help you.
Learning a few Greek words goes a long way:
For stays under 90 days, visitors from the US, Canada, Australia, UK, and most EU countries do not need a visa. You'll need a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date. Non-EU nationals will need ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) authorization, expected to launch Q4 2026. Check official EU sources for the latest timeline.
The European Entry/Exit System (EES) began phased rollout in October 2025 and will be fully mandatory from April 10, 2026. This is separate from ETIAS and requires fingerprints and photos on your first visit, creating a digital record valid for 3 years. Official EU information.
