Re-check with Amorgos Bus Company for your travel date; a September publication does not guarantee the same times throughout the month or later in the year.

The Amorgos Bus Company connects the island’s three main hubs: Aegiali, Katapola and Chora. Its published fares range from €2.30 to €4.00. The company describes a year-round service, but the departure tables below apply to the poster dated 1 September 2026; check a new timetable for a later trip.

How much is a bus ticket on Amorgos?

A single bus ticket on Amorgos costs €2.30 to €4.00, depending on how far you travel. The cheapest fare covers the short hops — Aegiali to Tholaria or Lagada, Katapola to Chora, Chora to the Monastery. The most expensive, €4.00, covers Katapola to the far southwest of the island: Kalotaritissa, the Navagio shipwreck and Agia Paraskevi. Night departures are priced separately and cost more than the same journey by day.

Night buses cost more than the same trip by day. The operator prices three night journeys separately: Aegiali–Katapola €4.00, Aegiali–Chora €3.50 and Chora–Katapola €2.50. Chora to Katapola is €2.30 in daylight, so the 00:30 run costs 20 cents more. Children up to six years old travel free; from seven, everyone pays a regular ticket.

Worked fare example: two adults taking Katapola → Monastery → Katapola at the published €2.30 daytime fare each way would pay €9.20 in total for four single journeys. This is a fare calculation for two adults, not a family-ticket product. Compare a car-rental quote for your dates if the bus route or return time does not fit; rental prices and availability vary.

Who runs the buses on Amorgos?

The operator publishes its timetable in English and Greek at amorgosbuscompany.com. Its second website, ktelamorgos.gr, lists matching contact details. On the Greek site, choose Δρομολόγια for timetables and Τιμοκατάλογος for ticket prices.

The operator’s company profile says it was established in 1985, while the logo on the current timetable and fare poster says “Since 1994”. Those sources do not explain the difference. The profile describes scheduled public services and private hire; use the dated timetable for actual public-bus departures.

What the 1 September 2026 timetable means for your trip

Use the 1 September 2026 poster for the departures below. This review verified the current sheet; it did not establish a matching 29 July 2026 source for the previous summer-comparison figures. The table now highlights the current service and its practical limits.

Dinner in Chora, sleeping in Aegiali: the last Chora → Aegiali departure is printed as 22:45, not 00:00. Midnight is a departure in the opposite direction, from Aegiali toward Katapola. Confirm the final Chora service with the operator because the poster’s last Agios Pavlos → Aegiali time is inconsistent with it. For the Navagio shipwreck, the published beach-bus days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Monastery visit: the first listed Katapola departure is 09:15, picking up in Chora at 09:30 and terminating at the Monastery. It does not continue to Agia Anna. Confirm visitor opening hours and entry requirements separately; a bus departure is not proof that the monastery is open.

Aegiali to Katapola bus (schedule)

The main line runs Aegiali → Agios Pavlos → Chora → Katapola five times daily on the 1 September poster. The fare list gives Aegiali–Katapola as €3.50, with €4.00 for night service. Check the return direction separately.

00:00 is the last listed departure from Aegiali toward Katapola. The 1 September sheet does not list a 02:00 departure. Midnight is the start of the next calendar date; confirm the intended night with the operator when making a late connection.

Katapola to Aegiali bus (schedule)

In the other direction, the poster lists Katapola → Agios Pavlos → Aegiali five times daily.

The last listed Katapola → Aegiali departure is 22:30. For a ferry arrival, allow for disembarkation, luggage and reaching the stop; a scheduled ferry arrival at the same time is not a workable bus connection.

Chora to Aegiali bus (schedule)

From Chora, the bus runs Chora → Agios Pavlos → Aegiali. The published daytime fare is €3.00 and night fare €3.50. The poster prints the last Chora departure as 22:45. See the source discrepancy below before relying on that final connection.

Agios Pavlos connections (schedule)

Agios Pavlos is an intermediate stop between Aegiali and Chora. The poster lists departure times for it in both directions. Read each column independently; rows are not guaranteed connecting services.

Aegiali–Agios Pavlos costs €2.30 and Chora–Agios Pavlos €3.00 on the fare poster. Source discrepancy: the timetable prints the last Agios Pavlos → Aegiali departure as 22:30, earlier than the last Chora → Aegiali departure at 22:45. Both printed values are preserved here. Ask Amorgos Bus Company which final service stops at your boarding point; do not infer a connecting time.

Aegiali to Tholaria bus (schedule)

Tholaria sits above Aegiali bay and is a €2.30 ride from the port. Four departures a day.

Tholaria to Aegiali bus (schedule)

Coming back down, each departure runs ten minutes after the corresponding uphill run.

Aegiali to Lagada bus (schedule)

Lagada is the second village above Aegiali, also €2.30 from the port.

Katapola to the Monastery & Agia Anna (schedule)

This is the bus for the Hozoviotissa Monastery. It runs Katapola → Chora → Monastery → Agia Anna. Katapola to the Monastery is €2.30; continuing to Agia Anna is €2.50.

The “Monastery” stop is for Hozoviotissa; Agia Anna is listed separately farther along the route. The 09:15 from Katapola goes only as far as the Monastery. Confirm the walking access, visitor hours and dress requirements before setting out.

Chora to the Monastery & Agia Anna bus (schedule)

From Chora the same service picks up fifteen minutes after leaving Katapola. Chora to the Monastery is €2.30.

Monastery to Agia Anna bus (schedule)

Four departures continue down from the monastery to the beach, €2.30.

Monastery to Katapola bus (schedule)

Returning from the monastery the bus runs Monastery → Chora → Katapola.

18:35 is the last Monastery → Chora → Katapola departure printed on this sheet. Check your return before leaving the stop. If it does not fit your visit, arrange an alternative with a confirmed pickup point and time.

Agia Anna to Katapola bus (schedule)

From the beach the bus runs Agia Anna → Monastery → Chora → Katapola, five minutes ahead of the monastery departure above.

Chora to Katapola bus (schedule)

The Chora → Katapola shuttle has ten departures listed on the poster, including one unexplained asterisk. The fare list gives €2.30 for daytime service and €2.50 for night service.

The poster marks 20:15 from Chora to Katapola and 20:00 from Katapola to Chora with asterisks but supplies no explanation on the sheet. Confirm both marked departures with the operator before relying on them.

Katapola to Chora bus (schedule)

The Katapola → Chora shuttle also has ten listed departures. Its 20:00 entry carries the unexplained asterisk noted above; the last printed departure is 22:30.

Beach bus: Mouros, Arkesini, Navagio shipwreck & Kalotaritissa (schedule)

The beach bus is listed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only. The 1 September poster shows one round trip via the Navagio shipwreck to Kalotaritissa. The published Katapola–Navagio fare is €4.00.

The single return starts at Kalotaritissa at 16:00 and lists Mouros Beach at 16:20. The poster does not give arrival and return times for every intermediate stop, so it does not establish a four-hour visit at each beach or the shipwreck. Confirm the pickup place and time for the stop you choose before getting off.

For Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday or Sunday, this poster lists no southwest beach bus. Confirm a taxi, transfer or car-rental option for your dates if you cannot switch to a bus-service day.
