Parikia is the main port town of Paros and the first place you’ll see when your ferry pulls in. While I still think Naoussa is the best place to stay in Paros, Parikia is a genuinely great base if you want easy ferry access, sunset views over the bay, and a proper Cycladic town feel with whitewashed alleys, tavernas, and late-night bars. Why Stay in Parikia?
Paros is a surprisingly diverse island with different pockets that each feel like their own little world. Up north, Naoussa is all about chic cocktail bars, boutiques, and stylish hotels. Parikia, by contrast, is a laid-back port town where you can roll off the ferry and be at your hotel or a seaside taverna within minutes. It’s perfect if you:
- Want to avoid long transfers after the ferry – most hotels here are a 5–10 minute drive from the port, some are walkable.
- Plan to island-hop and need a convenient base that works with early-morning or late-night ferries.
- Like staying in a real town with supermarkets, bakeries, banks, and year-round locals rather than in an isolated resort.
- Are visiting Paros without a car and prefer an area that’s well-connected by the local bus network.
Naoussa still wins for wow-factor and nightlife, but Parikia is calmer, more practical and usually a bit cheaper on accommodation. You can always split your stay or make easy day trips between the two towns.
The great thing is that Paros is only a couple of hours away from Athens or Piraeus by ferry (always check Ferryhopper for up-to-date schedules and prices).

FAQs
Is Parikia a good place to stay in Paros?
Parikia or Naoussa – which is better?
Naoussa is more polished and better for high-end dining, bars and boutique hotels. Parikia is better for practicality, lower prices and direct access to ferries. Many people stay in Parikia for the first and last nights of their trip and then move to Naoussa or a beach area for the rest of their stay.
How many days do you need in Paros?
The island isn’t huge and the main “sightseeing” is really its beaches and towns. I recommend at least three full days in Paros to explore Parikia, Naoussa and a couple of beaches, plus two extra days on nearby Antiparos if you can. Antiparos is a small, much quieter island just across the water and makes a perfect add-on.
How do you get around Paros from Parikia?
You can do a lot from Parikia without a car thanks to the local buses and boat taxis, but if you want to explore smaller beaches it’s much easier with your own wheels. I usually recommend renting a car for at least part of your stay – parking around Parikia is manageable compared to other islands.
