Planning where to stay in Milos is half the fun, because the island is all about small boutique hotels, suites and villas with big sea views rather than giant all‑inclusive resorts.
The best hotels in Milos are mostly located in the capital of the island, Adamas (or Adamantas for Greeks), around the fishing-village-turned-hotspot of Pollonia, near the hilltop villages of Plaka and Trypiti, or set above quiet beaches such as Provatas, Mytakas and Achivadolimni.Below you’ll find a curated list of my favourite boutique hotels, suites and villas across Milos, plus a quick guide to the main areas so you can match the neighbourhood – and the property – to your travel style.

The views from Noma Milos Hotel at Provatas beach feel almost unreal

Best Areas to Stay in Milos

- Adamas (port town): Best if you want convenience. You’ll be close to ferries, the bus hub, car-rental offices and most boat tours to Kleftiko. It’s not the prettiest village on the island, but it’s practical and has plenty of tavernas, bakeries and bars.
- Pollonia: A relaxed fishing village on the northeast tip of Milos with a sandy town beach, sunset views and good restaurants. Many of the island’s most stylish suites sit here, and you can walk almost everywhere once you’re checked in.
- Plaka & Trypiti: The hilltop part of Milos with views over the bay, whitewashed alleys and the castle. Great for sunsets and a more local feel, but you’ll usually need to drive to the beach.
- Provatas & the south coast: Quiet and sheltered, with sandy beaches that are calmer when the north wind gets strong. Perfect if you care more about swimming and views than nightlife.
- Klima & the syrmata villages: Tiny, colourful fishing settlements where boathouses have been turned into unique stays. Incredibly atmospheric at sunset, but you’ll definitely want a car and you’ll rely on nearby Plaka or Adamas for most services.
About Milos

Milos is still underrated compared to Santorini or Mykonos, but it’s getting more popular every year. In my opinion, Milos has some of the best beaches in the Cyclades and a huge variety of landscapes – from lunar Sarakiniko to the caves of Kleftiko and the golden sand at Fyriplaka.
Milos does not have luxury all-inclusive resorts; instead, you’ll find small hotels, villas and suites with very personal service. It’s often described by Greeks as a romantic island, which probably has something to do with the famous Venus de Milo statue that was discovered here (you’ll now find it in the Louvre in Paris).
The island sits on the western edge of the Cyclades. It feels remote, but that’s part of the charm: fewer cruise ships, more wild coves and villages that still feel lived in outside high season.Milos has a small domestic airport with summer-only flights from Athens, plus regular ferries from Piraeus and other Cycladic islands – so it works very well in an island-hopping itinerary with Santorini, Paros or Naxos.

Getting Around Milos

I genuinely believe you need a car in Milos. Distances are longer than they look on the map, and the best beaches and viewpoints are spread across the island. Public buses connect Adamas with Pollonia, Plaka and a few beaches in summer, but they’re not frequent enough if you want to beach-hop.
If you don’t want to drive, your next best options are organised boat trips (for Kleftiko and the south coast), taxis for evenings out, and the occasional ATV/scooter rental. Just remember that some roads are rough – especially around the north coast and the western part of the island – so check what your rental insurance actually covers.

Location: On the waterfront in Pollonia, a short stroll from the village beach and seafront tavernas.
White Pebble Suites is a design-led boutique hotel that feels more like a laid-back beach club than a traditional resort. Suites are bright and minimal, with terrazzo floors, natural fabrics and built-in sofas; many come with private plunge pools or outdoor hot tubs facing the Aegean.
The hotel has a compact spa, a stylish pool area and a small restaurant-bar for slow breakfasts and sunset cocktails. Because you’re right in Pollonia, you can walk to everything in the village and still retreat to a quiet, adults-leaning atmosphere.- Best for: Style-conscious couples who want a walkable base in Pollonia.
- Good to know: Suites with plunge pools sell out first in high season – book these early if that’s important to you.

2. Noma Milos

Location: Above Provatas beach on the south coast, overlooking the bay and open sea.
Noma Milos is a small retreat that feels deliberately remote – the sort of place you book when you want long, quiet days by the pool and dramatic sunsets from your terrace. The architecture is all clean lines and stone, with suites that blur indoor and outdoor living.
Most rooms look straight over the water, and several have private or semi-private pools. You’re close to Provatas and the south-coast beaches but will absolutely want a car for exploring the rest of the island.- Best for: Honeymoons and special trips where you don’t mind being a little removed from the villages.
- Good to know: Because of the hillside location, there are steps around the property – pack light and good sandals.

Milos Breeze is one of the most photogenic hotels on the island thanks to its multi-level infinity pools and big views across the bay. Rooms and suites are bright and modern, many with private plunge pools or jacuzzis on the terrace.
The property works very well for families and small groups because there are several room types, plenty of outdoor space and easy access to Pollonia’s restaurants and beach while still feeling private.- Best for: Families and couples who want resort-style facilities but still in boutique scale.
- Good to know: The walk back up from Pollonia is uphill – manageable, but you’ll be glad you booked a car for daytime exploring.

Terra Oliva Milos is a cluster of stone-built suites that feel peaceful and secluded without being far from civilisation. Interiors mix neutral tones with wooden details and comfortable beds, and several suites come with private hot tubs or small pools.
This is a good option if you like the idea of Pollonia’s restaurants and beaches but prefer to sleep slightly away from the village, under big skies and stars.- Best for: Couples and friends looking for a calm base near Pollonia.
- Good to know: You’ll want a car here – there’s little within easy walking distance besides nature and views.

FAQs

What is the best area to stay in Milos?
Do you really need a car in Milos?
Strictly speaking, no – you can get by using buses, taxis and boat trips – but you’ll see a lot more with a car or ATV. Many of the best beaches and viewpoints are down minor roads with no bus service. If you’re nervous about driving, consider renting a car just for a couple of days to hit the more remote spots.
Is Milos good for families?
When is the best time to visit Milos?
Late May, June, September and early October hit the sweet spot: warm sea, swimmable weather and fewer crowds than July–August. In peak summer you’ll have the widest choice of ferries and flights but also the highest prices and the strongest meltemi winds.
