The best villas in Santorini are usually in Fira, in Imerovigli, in Oia or even in Firostefani towns, but there are some more scattered all over the island. Obviously, if you want to have an infinity private pool overlooking the famous sunsets all by yourself, then you are going to have to pay for a premium price, but some of them can actually be a great option for larger groups or large families!

Yes, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that these places cost quite a lot of money (like the villas in Mykonos). How can you actually rent a private villa in Santorini?

This is not the 90’s. So…you will rent them online ! ! Pretty much all the villas of the island can either be booked online on Booking.com or on Airbnb. To be honest with you, for the same villa, you will probably pay less on Booking.comthan Airbnb because you are not paying any additional fees (yes…you will probably pay more on Airbnb and you won’t have free cancellation as you almost always have on Booking). And I personally prefer Booking.com as the reviews on the site are really helpful to make a decision (and they are 100% real from people who have actually stayed at those hotels).

Where Are The Best Villas in Santorini located?

There are private villas literally everywhere in Santorini. All over the island. The most impressive ones are probably those with the famous views in Oia, Firostefani and Imerovigli but I’ve seen some newly built ones that are a-m-a-z-i-n-g, and they are located either close to Pyrgos or by the beach at Kamari (remember for Santorini: close to the beach=no famous views)

What Do I Get With A Villa in Santorini?

The truth is that it really depends. There are many 1 bedroom mini-villas with private swimming pools that are basically part of a larger “hotel” complex and they are more like…private suites to be honest, rather than villas. There are many places like this, and the good thing is that they have all the benefits of staying in a more private place (like a villa) but also have lots of the facilities and services that you would expect from a luxurious hotel.

So you really win if you find a place like this. But you have to bear in mind that everything in Santorini is at a smaller scale than you are probably imagining. Everything is smaller because it’s the traditional architecture of the island that stipulates that. So, don’t expect humongous mansions and 10000000 sq. ft. castles.

You are going to get an amazing villa with the most stunning views you’ve ever seen in your life. Do not complain if you don’t find 3 kitchens and 6 bathrooms (even though you might be paying a price for such a place… ???? )

This is one of the most well-designed and modern villas in Santorini but it’s not located in one of the most famous and more sought-after places like Oia or Imerovigli. In fact, it is located in Pyrgos, which is very close to all the wineries but it’s so high up on a hill that offers some incredible uninterrupted sunset views. It also has some of the most stunning infinity private swimming pools on the island.
